The cooperative was created to solve the increasing need for a dedicated group of professionals to answer the technological requirements of the medical community. Since the explosion in the use of online connectivity and communication during the late 1980's to the early 1990's, many fields have moved to incorporate this technology into their respective companies. It was not until recently, in the early 21st century, that the medical community has moved to the use of this type of connectivity. The resistance to the use of this rapidly growing technology stems from the issues of patient privacy that arises from information interchange through wired and wireless networks. This technology not only opens the door for more robust databases, but is a great venue to advertise company presence.
